Thorold, ON., June 19, 2024 - The Canada Games Park celebrated a significant moment as Mark Basciano, President, Mountainview Building Group, took the lacrosse field for an honorary ball drop, marking a milestone in the longstanding partnership between Mountainview and the St. Catharines Athletics.

Since 1987, Mountainview Building Group has been a steadfast supporter of the St. Catharines Jr. A team, a tradition that began with Mark’s father, the late Nick Basciano. This commitment, spanning over three decades, has been a cornerstone of support for numerous teams and generations of athletes, including Nick’s grandsons Julian and Luca Race, who have proudly represented the Athletics Association.

Earlier this year, Mountainview Building Group was approached for guidance on how best to build out a first-class locker room for the St.Catharines Jr. A team. Mountainview not only provided leadership but also made a transformative decision, by generously funding a complete transformation of the team's locker room, marking the largest single donation in the history of the Athletics Association.

Before the game, amidst anticipation and excitement, Mark Basciano officially dedicated the newly renovated locker room to the Jr A Team. This revitalized space, meticulously designed to reflect the club’s century-long legacy of excellence, tradition, and family, now stands as a testament to Mountainview Building Group's commitment to community and athletic development.

Mountainview paid special attention to ensure the locker room honored the club’s 100+ years of Legacy, Tradition, and Family, to serve as a source of inspiration and pride to future Jr. A players.

Paul Coates, President of the St.Catharines Junior Athletics Association,  was on hand for the dedication noting “ the legacy created by this amazing gift will live on for decades. We are now the envy of the lacrosse community in Canada. Thank you!”
