Mountainview Building Group raises $23,390 for Hotel Dieu Shaver at the 2024 Celebrity Ice Cup

NIAGARA FALLS, ON., FEBRUARY 23 2024 - Team Mountainview hit the ice for the 8th Annual Hotel Dieu Shaver Celebrity Ice Cup, raising $23,390 in support of the Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre in St. Catharines. The charitable hockey tournament is a signature event that raises funds for much-needed medical equipment and upgrades to patient care areas.

This year’s Celebrity Ice Cup raised over $257,000. The event brought together amateur players and NHL alumni with the top fundraising participants squaring off against some of the NHL’s greatest players including Wendel Clark, Mike Krushelnyski, Jeremy Roenick, and Darcy Tucker.

Mountainview was joined by Brian McGrattan who has played for the Ottawa Senators, Phoenix Coyotes, Calgary Flames, and Nashville Predators.

Support of Mountainview’s efforts in the tournament was tremendous. “Donations made on behalf of our team exceeded expectations,” says the team’s captain, Nick Colamartini, Vice-President of Commercial and Development for Mountainview. “We are grateful for the support that brought us close to tripling our fundraising goal. And we had an amazing time facing off against our friends and colleagues alongside some great NHL hockey players."

Mountainview Building Group has a long-standing commitment to philanthropy. They support numerous charitable organizations, including the Niagara Health Foundation, Niagara College, Thorold Community Care, McMaster SickKids, The Pathstone Foundation, and Family and Children Services Niagara, to name a few. They are also celebrated as a founding donor for their $3M donation to the Our Future Campaign for the South Niagara Site of Niagara Health.

Awarded the Outstanding Corporation Award in 2019 from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) for their exceptional financial support, community involvement, and philanthropic leadership roles, participating in this year’s Celebrity Ice Cup fits in with Mountainview’s commitment to making a difference. “Ensuring that Hotel Dieu Shaver is equipped with the most up-to-date tools and services is important to Mountainview” says Nick. “Playing in the Celebrity Ice Cup was one more meaningful and fun way to show our dedication to promoting the health and well-being of all who live in our community.”
